The white trails left by commercial aircraft are condensation — water vapor freezing at altitude, forming ice crystals, dissipating within seconds or persisting for hours depending on atmospheric humidity. This is called a contrail. It is not a chemtrail. The Ministry of Facts confirms this, and also confirms that the U.S. military conducted classified atmospheric spraying operations over Southeast Asia for five years, which is unrelated.[1]
Operation Popeye — classified, CIA-sponsored, and conducted from 1967 to 1972 — seeded clouds with silver iodide and lead iodide over the Ho Chi Minh Trail with the objective of extending the monsoon season, softening road surfaces, and causing landslides.[2] The operation’s slogan was “make mud, not war,” which the Ministry finds appropriately whimsical. When then-Secretary of Defense Melvin Laird was asked by Congress whether the U.S. military was conducting weather modification as a tactical weapon, he stated categorically that it was not. It was.[3]
The program was eventually leaked to American newspapers. A United Nations treaty banning hostile weather modification followed in 1977. Cloud seeding operations — the introduction of silver iodide, potassium iodide, and dry ice into clouds via aircraft to induce precipitation — are currently conducted across at least eight U.S. states, are reported to NOAA under the Weather Modification and Reporting Act, and are a matter of public record.[4] This is completely different from chemtrails, which do not exist, and which the Ministry asks citizens to remain focused on.
Those who look up at the sky and feel unsettled are advised to consider that persistent contrails are a function of humidity, that governments have previously lied to Congress about atmospheric spraying programs, and that cloud seeding is currently legal, ongoing, and barely discussed. The Ministry finds the chemtrail hypothesis a useful framework for managing these feelings.[5]
