The Dispatch

The President of the United States has reported that Iran’s new regime president has requested a ceasefire. The update was published to Truth Social at 8:50 AM on April 1, 2026, and signed “President DJT.” The President described Iran’s new regime president as much less radicalized and far more intelligent than his predecessors. The President indicated the United States will consider the ceasefire request when the Hormuz Strait is open, free, and clear. Until that condition is met, the President stated, the United States will be blasting Iran into oblivion or, as he characterised it, back to the Stone Ages.

The Hormuz Strait condition was previously established. On March 30, 2026, the President issued a diplomatic update outlining contingency infrastructure targets in the event a deal was not reached and the strait remained closed. Those targets included electric generating plants, oil wells, Kharg Island, and, with an exclamation point, desalination plants. That post closed with “Thank you for your attention to this matter.” The Hormuz Strait condition has not changed. The desalination plants have not yet been touched.

Amir Tsarfati, a former Israeli Defense Forces major and founder of the evangelical intelligence ministry Behold Israel, filed commentary on the post from his Telegram channel at 8:57 AM. Tsarfati noted that the President published his update minutes before the opening of Wall Street. Tsarfati further observed that whether Iran’s president had actually requested a ceasefire was not entirely certain, adding “But who cares?” Tsarfati assessed the strategic objective as follows: the United States requires oil, and degrading Iran’s capabilities to dust while bringing prices down serves that objective simultaneously. Wall Street opened at 9:30 AM Eastern. Oil prices were not reported in this dispatch.

This correspondent notes, for purposes of administrative completeness, that the President’s characterisation of Iran’s new regime president as far more intelligent than his predecessors refers to a government that came to power during the current military operation. The previous regime, against which the operation was initiated, is no longer in office. The new regime has now requested a ceasefire. The President has described this as a positive development and has also described his current course of action as blasting them back to the Stone Ages. Both characterisations were published in the same post.

The Hormuz Strait condition remains in effect.
