To The Editor:
I am writing in regard to Thomas Oscarson’s letter in the Northern Watch Saturday, February 12, 1994.
I believe he is right on track, but he and many other folks need a bit stronger prescription for their glasses to see what’s happening to our country. I’ll go over his comments and then expand on them a little.
First, he mentioned prisoners are being released early in 38 states under orders from the federal government. To put it more simply, the Fed has no constitutional authority to order states to do this.
Second, he was wrong about the current administration’s efforts to disarm the U.S. citizens. Again, that is unconstitutional.
Third, he brought up child pornography and a lack of support for the anti-pornography groups. Janet Reno, Clinton’s Attorney General, is seeking to ease restrictions for the porn industry. What she and her crowd are seeking to do is redefine pornography. Two people in a photograph who are touching each other is porn. If they are in close proximity, it is not porn.
Fourth, he described government sponsored or subsidized art involving a crucifix inside a jar of urine. I believe 99 per cent of us find that extremely obscene. This, too, is an unconstitutional act in that the federal government has no authority to spend money in this manner.
Fifth, he connected the disgusting so-called artwork to 50,000 Americans dying in Viet Nam, and asked if this is the kind of freedom they died for. Well, they died for freedom, but not for America. They died for the memory of France and for the United Nations. The war in Viet Nam was given the title of a “police action.” It was fought to stem the tide of communism and preserve Viet Nam as a colony of France. Do some research on France and how it treated the Vietnamese as colonists—you will see the Vietnamese’ need for freedom and independence.
Hope you’ve enjoyed my use of the word unconstitutional. I’ve heard that two-thirds of the federal government’s spending is unconstitutional. The government has no longer bound itself by the Constitution.
The coining of money has been given to the Federal Reserve Bank. This is not a federal entity, it is a private organization. It has no reserves. It creates money out of nothing…thin air, if you will. Income tax paid to the federal government is unconstitutional.
The federal government has the constitutional power to tax the states. It has the power to coin money. It is in charge of national defense. The federal government can regulate trade between the states. It has very little function besides this.
I disagree with Mr. Oscarson’s statement that we are the government. The almost uncontrollable federal bureaucracy has become the only government. Why else was Randy Weaver from Idaho shot, his wife and son murdered? Why did Janet Reno allow the attack on the Davidians in Waco, TX, that caused the deaths of 87 Christians? Why is the Federal Reserve collecting interest on money it borrows when its money does not exist? Why have American soldiers fought, and continue to fight, for it, for the United Nations?
Why do judges instruct juries only to reach a guilty or not guilty verdict when the Constitution clearly states they can also decide both law and fact, and evidence in a trial?
If anybody truly thinks “we” are the government, well, I’d like to sell you some bridges and oceanside property because you are twice as gullible as the next guy.
Sincerely,
Danny Omdahl
