Down in the dusty town of Rocky Creek Lane,
Lived a man named Marvin who felt lots of pain.
The neighbors weren’t friendly, the bosses weren’t fair,
And Marvin felt angry, with troubles to bear.

He worked and he fixed with his trusty toolbox,
But people just grumbled and threw lots of knocks.
So Marvin got building—a machine tough and strong,
A big, giant Dozer to right every wrong.

The Dozer had armor that shined in the sun,
With wheels made for stomping and stop signs to run.
Marvin climbed in with a brave little grin,
And off went the Dozer to shake up the din.

It rumbled and rumbled and pushed through the streets,
Knocking down fences and old parking seats.
No harm to a person, no critters were scared—
Just buildings and walls that no longer cared.

The town folks all gasped and watched what he’d do,
Some said, “GO MARVIN!” while others said, “Booo!”
But Marvin just wanted to make a big stand,
To show when it’s wrong, you can make your own plans.

So now when you’re feeling like things aren’t quite right,
Remember brave Marvin and his Dozer’s might.
Speak up and stand tall when trouble is near,
And always be kind—show love, not just fear.

Good night, little dreamer—rest easy and sound,
With courage and questions all safely around!

What We Can Learn from Marvin and the Dozer

  • Speak up when things feel unfair.

  • Find clever ways to solve tough problems.

  • Be brave, but always choose kindness.

  • Remember: it’s okay to stand up—but hurting others is never right.

Grown-Up’s Note: The True Tale of Killdozer

Marvin Heemeyer’s story is based on real events in Granby, Colorado, in 2004. Upset over disputes with town officials, he built a heavily armored bulldozer and caused damage to several buildings. While the machines and the story are dramatic, the lesson we share is about courage, fairness, and kindness—standing up when things seem wrong, and seeking peaceful solutions whenever we can.
